Four Haikus by Lily

Tuesday, August 14th, 2007

I love little dogs
They are so cute and fluffy
I would name mine
Woof

My little hamster
Eats too much
Sunflower seeds
So he is very fat

I have a pet dog
And I name her
Daisy Dog
I love her a lot

I grew a flower
I grew it from a small seed
It will grow quite big.

Midnight by Safiyah

Tuesday, August 14th, 2007

I sat up in bed
I heard my heart beat
A ticking clock
A wolf was howling
Long and loud
My room as cold as a freezer
And as I drew the curtains I peered out
The moon as white as a new born polar bear
A perfect circle
Floating in the middle of the inky sky
No other light was on
Curtains and blinds were closed
I was the only one awake
I checked my watch
Midnight

Paul Geraghty by Morgan

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

There once was a writer called Paul
He was remarkably tall
Quite famous he is
He doesn’t like fizz
But he does have a squirrel quite small

(PS. true about the squirrel, don’t know about the fizz)

Camping by Morgan

Monday, August 6th, 2007

Cats are everywhere
Animals there too
Mini beasts crawl
Past a million brick walls
I love camping
Nonie’s there too
Great but now it’s time to go

Poem by Olivia

There once was a boy from Tooting
Who was remarkably good at recruiting
His army grew
And did continue
That recruiting boy from Tooting

Utopia by Olivia

Saturday, August 4th, 2007

An eerie sound of high pitched calling
Came from above like the death and start of a lonely world.
High in the sky silhouetted
Were several white figures against the black Moon.

Red, Green, Black and Blue,
All the colours that made the world
Flashed against the white cold stone,
As drops of rain came pelting down.

All breeds of animals came tumbling to earth.
And humans and aliens alike,
Came down to the New World,
Among the sleeping lions.

The start of the world at its new,
Never having been seen before,
Was like waking up as fresh and young,
As ever remembered before.

Colour filled the world,
As people and animals twitched and woke.
And the clocks chimed midnight.
Utopia had begun.

Poem by Anusha

Saturday, August 4th, 2007

Cycling through the night
Is not very right
Without any lights
Might give a nasty fright!

Heavy rain dropping down
Is not nice it gives me a frown
I’m not speaking with any nouns
Especially when I’m wearing a gown!

Confused by speech
Sucked by a leech
Calling for help
Whilst tangled in kelp!

I got the beat
It was very neat
I fell to my feet
Because of the heat!

School poem

I go to school every day
But I’d really prefer to play
To play outside with the sun shining bright
To float away and have a glorious flight

Poem

There once was a boy from Tooting
Who was remarkably good at shooting
He had an air rifle and used it to stifle
A girl visiting Tooting

Poem by Yasmin

Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

I walked onto the bus,
A girl with a soft smile telling her mum she wanted to see elephants,
Someone counting in a conversation,
Someone coughing,
Hanging up on the beep,
My day on the bus.

I Love My Mummy by Danielle

Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

I love my mummy
She sometimes gives me money
When I feel sad
My mummy feels bad
When I’m happy
She always hugs me
That’s why I love my mummy

Look at that telephone ringing
As it glimmers in the sun
While my sister is singing
I want a chocolate bun.

What is that little mouse?
Why is the cat hiding?
Is it ready to pounce?
Or is it because the little boy’s riding?

Why do pigs fly?
Why do cats grunt?
Why do dogs squeak?
Why do birds stamped?
